For the Cornell Lab Citizen Science Blog I created some interactive data visualization around the topic of hummingbirds.
In “Beat the Beats” I created a utilized motion, time, and game mechanics to instill the speed at which a hummingbird beats its wings. Users record their own mouse clicks to see the differential in their speed to that of a hummingbirds. Also in this article I utilized a polar coordinate chart to show the inverse relationship of bird size to wingbeat speed.
In “Hungry, Hungry Hummers” a user can visualize how much they would would have to drink in sugary soda to compare to a hummingbirds caloric needs for their weights.
